Companionship

Dedicated support from a trusted companion

From day-to-day support – either at home or getting out and about – through to having a valuable confidant for business trips or travel, we offer companionship services to suit your every need.

Sometimes care and support isn’t about a complex medical need or essential personal care tasks. What is often more important is living the life that you want, doing the things you love and feeling as human as possible.

We can support with hobbies and interests, attending events and shows, concierge services and running errands or just popping around for a cup of tea and a good chat.

With "Smile health care" you have the peace of mind of a fully regulated service that involves strict checks, in-depth training and ongoing support for the carers and personal assistants who join our team. Call us today if you’d like to find out more.

What are companionship services?

With quality companionship services, tailored to your own wants and needs, you can live a fulfilling and independent life. This package of companion care can include almost anything that isn’t medical or personal care. Your unique package of companionship support will be created just for you, and may involve:

Company

The loss of a loved one, limited mobility or family members who don’t live locally. These are hurdles which can often seem difficult to overcome. But a friendly and familiar face can take you out and about, support you around the house or even just sit and have a natter, a cup of tea and a biscuit a couple of times a week to lift a weight from your shoulders.

Running errands

Sometimes the things that you used to take for granted can be so difficult to achieve, but with our handy personal assistants there to support you with shopping, dropping things to the post office or picking up your pension you can relax in the knowledge that your jobs will be done when you need them to be.

Hobbies and holidays

There are a lot of things we like to do that help us feel human and enjoy our lives, and we know that an injury or illness is no reason for these things to stop. Your carer or personal assistant can support with physical activities like going swimming or out for a walk. If you attend social groups, classes or a day centre, he or she can accompany you and offer support while you are there. They can even assist you on holiday, in the UK or abroad, to help you get the most out of the experience.

Driving and chaperoning

Getting from A to B isn’t always plain and simple. That’s why our carers can either drive you or accompany you on public transport to wherever you need to go, be that to an appointment, day out or social engagement.

Home help

Support with house work, meal prep and entertaining guests can all be provided for you by our carers. We know that people feel most comfortable at home, so our carers can provide the support you need while also being a friendly face and someone to chat to.

Finding a companion

At "Smile health care" Home Care, every single one of our carers is directly recruited, employed and trained by us. As a family-run business and not an agency we can offer continuity of carer throughout our live-in care and visiting support services meaning that you can build familiarity and a friendship with your companion.

Accepting a new person in to your home can be a daunting prospect, but having a regular companion to assist with hobbies, activities and errands means that you can develop a great relationship that we know a lot of our customers wouldn’t be without.

Thoroughly vetted and checked by us, we ensure that every one of our carers and companions that visit and support you at home are of the highest quality and will support you with whatever they can to ensure you are living the life that you want to.

Each one of our carers is DBS (criminally) checked, reference checked and has graduated from our Centre of Excellence, the home care industry’s only training programme that is endorsed by Skills for Care.

Companionship services for young people

There are many landmark events, or changes to routine that can alter our lives. Going to college or university, getting a job or moving out of home for the first time to name a few.

We provide familiar carers to support with these transitions, making them as easy and comfortable for you as possible. "Smile health care" doesn’t see a disability or medical condition as a limitation. That’s why we can support you with personal care, transportation and attending social events to provide the level of support you need. Be that at home, work, on campus or in your halls of residence.

Going through personal or physical changes in life can often be overwhelming, but our companionship carers double up as physical support, and a friend when you need them.
